Ames is a special place that has a “family”
atmosphere, which provides the students with
tremendous nurturing in their education.
We sincerely thank our community for entrusting your
children to our care. Each day they are
intellectually challenged and motivated. Our
students are successful because our efforts will
never fail them.

Ames Elementary
was built in l926. It is a very well constructed, historic building.
We are located between Fourth
Street and the West Bank Expressway in Marrero, LA.
Our school is actually on Pine
Street, which is just off of Fourth Street. We enjoy having visitors
to our little school!
In 2008, our Superintendent, Dr. Diane Roussell
had the innovative vision to have our school convert into a Montessori School.
It became the first West Bank public Montessori
School in Jefferson Parish
Public School's
history.
Montessori is an educational philosophy
developed by Dr. Maria Montessori over 100 years ago and it focuses on the
success of the "whole-child". We believe that its values and
principles accurately align with our mission and educational goals for our
students.
There are approximately 350 students
attending Ames Montessori. It is very small in population, but our
community considers it a vital part of their lives.
We pride ourselves
with our size and feel that we can better meet the needs of our students.
Our faculty and staff exhibit exemplary concern to the students under
our care and dedication to the field of education.
